A Colorado Garage With Room to Grow

Located in Aurora, this garage came with a canvas that felt full of promise. High ceilings and windows filled the space with natural light, making it the perfect setting to maximize function without sacrificing form. With a blank slate like this, our team saw endless potential.

Our client’s garage looked like many others we’ve seen—functional but leaving plenty of room to better utilize the space. The unfinished garage was framed while boxes, storage, tools, and miscellaneous items filled the area, even blocking the windows. The concrete floors showed years of natural wear and damage in multiple spots. Our goal was to improve every square foot of the garage with function, efficiency, and beauty.

This garage is a perfect example of how smart organization can add valuable space to your home. With overhead racks, slat walls, and cabinets, we’ve seen many of our Denver-area clients reclaim 200 square feet or more of usable space in an average 2–3 car garage. That added space expands your home’s functionality, keeps things safely stored, and eliminates so much daily stress coming in and out of your home.

Every project begins with listening. We learn about our clients’ daily routines, storage challenges, and vision for their space. This insight allows us to create garage solutions that are both highly functional and visually striking. With the homeowner, we developed a detailed game plan:

  • New drywall installation and paint

  • Repair and refinish the garage floor with our coyote color flaking

  • Custom overhead shelving to maximize the vertical space

  • Cabinet and slat wall installation

  • Refinish the stairs

  • Base cove finishing for the final touches

  • New lighting to make the whole garage shine!

The Process

While the homeowner prepared the space and moved belongings out, we were ready to get to work. However, like any good story, not everything was smooth sailing. The cabinets were delayed by the manufacturer, so we kicked things off with the drywall, paint, and flooring for the first phase of this particular project.

Each project starts with a solid foundation. As part of our flooring process, we grind down and fix any existing cracks prior to applying any coatings. We seal all cracks and imperfections and fully prep the surface using an industrial grinder. Then, we apply our base coat of epoxy before the flake color.

Epoxy flooring can shift, expand, and shrink due to changing temperatures – especially in Colorado’s hot summers and cold winters. The polyaspartic floor withstands those changes as it bonds directly to the concrete leaving our customers with a durable, safe, spectacular floor that is built to last.

We equipped the garage with slatwall panels and overhead racks to maximize storage capacity and keep everything organized. The slatwall system provides adaptable storage—perfect for hanging tools, garden equipment, and seasonal accessories. The client now uses it to store shovels, rakes, leaf blowers, and various other items, all within easy reach yet safely off the ground.

The overhead storage solution is particularly noteworthy. By taking advantage of the unused ceiling area, we added accessible space for bulky items and seasonal belongings that aren't needed daily. Two sturdy shelves installed above head height—one extending the full garage length—keep storage bins and larger equipment out of the way while remaining convenient to access.

While the customer awaited the cabinets, the completed garage floor and shelving already allowed them to park comfortably in the garage and use overhead storage.

Once the cabinets arrived, we returned to complete the final stage: installing custom cabinets with lockers, tool storage, and all the accessories needed to fully maximize space and utility.
